Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps Rubbishes has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. Rubbishes is committed to conducting business ethically, transparently, and with respect for the fundamental rights and dignity of all people.
Our Zero-Tolerance Commitment
Rubbishes has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery, forced labour, child labour, debt bondage, human trafficking, and any form of exploitation. We will not knowingly conduct business with any individual, contractor, or organisation that is involved in, or complicit with, modern slavery practices.
This commitment is embedded in our internal policies, supplier requirements, and day-to-day decision-making. All colleagues who engage with suppliers or contractors are required to consider modern slavery risks as part of their commercial and operational responsibilities.
Scope of This Statement
This statement applies to all business activities undertaken by Rubbishes and covers our employees, temporary workers, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and any other third parties acting on our behalf. It extends across all levels of our supply chain, including raw material providers, logistics partners, and service providers that support our operations.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
We expect all suppliers to uphold the same high standards that we set for ourselves. Our supplier onboarding procedures include an assessment of labour practices, working conditions, and ethical conduct. Where appropriate, we require suppliers to confirm compliance with relevant labour laws and to demonstrate that they have effective systems in place to prevent modern slavery.
Contracts with key suppliers incorporate obligations to comply with modern slavery legislation and to cooperate with Rubbishes in any investigation or audit relating to labour practices. Failure to meet these expectations may lead to corrective action, suspension of work, or termination of the business relationship.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
Rubbishes conducts risk-based assessments of its supply chain to identify areas where the risk of modern slavery may be higher due to geography, sector, or the nature of the work being undertaken. For higher-risk suppliers, we may conduct more detailed due diligence and targeted audits, which can include site visits, document reviews, and interviews with workers.
Where non-conformances or concerns are identified, we work with suppliers to establish clear corrective action plans and timelines. Continued non-compliance, or any evidence of modern slavery, will result in decisive action, which may include the termination of the commercial relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Rubbishes encourages anyone connected to our business, including employees, agency workers, contractors, and supplier personnel, to report any concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be raised through internal reporting channels, including line managers and our designated compliance contact point.
We also support the use of a confidential whistleblowing channel, enabling individuals to report issues anonymously where permitted by law. All reports are taken seriously, investigated promptly, and handled sensitively. No person raising a concern in good faith will be subjected to retaliation or detrimental treatment as a result of speaking up.
Training and Awareness
Rubbishes is committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks across the business. Relevant colleagues receive training on recognising signs of exploitation, understanding our policies, and knowing how to escalate concerns. This training is particularly focused on teams involved in procurement, supplier management, and site operations.
We keep our guidance and training materials under review to ensure that they remain current, practical, and aligned with evolving legal requirements and best practice standards.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that combating modern slavery requires ongoing vigilance and continuous improvement. Rubbishes is committed to regularly reviewing and enhancing our policies, procedures, and due diligence activities to ensure they remain effective.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is reviewed at least once every twelve months. As part of the annual review, we evaluate the effectiveness of our actions, consider feedback from stakeholders, and identify further steps we can take to strengthen our response to modern slavery risks. Any significant developments or changes will be reflected in an updated statement approved by the appropriate senior leadership.
By publishing this statement, Rubbishes reaffirms its commitment to respecting human rights, preventing exploitation, and promoting fair and safe working conditions throughout our business and supply chains.
